Blog: Week 4- Verisimilitude vs. Stylized graphics
In the many games we play  there are 2 different styles of graphics realistic graphics and stylised graphics and realistic graphics. Stylised graphics give a colourful and bright atmosphere, while realistic games on the other hand give the player a dramatic and intense atmosphere usually full of action. Different people have different tastes of games and also graphics some prefer a stylised cartoonish game play like World of Warcraft while others prefer a more realistic triple A style graphics like the Call of Duty series. Therefore what are the differences between these two of course they are major differences of look and appeal that is has on a game and what it does to the player, playing the game. Stylised graphics is usually a very colourful environment and usually very flashy, games that have stylised graphics doesn't really need much resources to run  or need a high end computer to enjoy but some players do not enjoy games that have stylised graphics. Games that strive to have full on realistic while having beautiful graphics and having a intense, dramatic and action packed game play need a lot of resources to run and create usually the player has to purchase the most up to date computer technology and usually games that strive to be too realistic usually makes it harder to immerse the player into the actual game and game play mechanics. There are games that mix both elements like Planetside 2, but in reality the option and taste of games and graphics are up to the preference of the individual player.                                           Image result for call of dutyImage result for maplestory

                                                                                2D VS 3D

The video game industry when games are produced they are separated in two types of graphics 3D and 2D. 3D games allows many exploration properties and many features, it allows for a lot of action. It makes the player become immersed into the game play 3D games usually has many game mechanics for the player to experiment with an example of this is The Elder Scroll series. 2D games mostly Indie games fit this category are for pure fun reasons there is usually little exploration involved but there are still many hidden rooms for the players to find the easter eggs hidden by the developers. 3D games are for players that are adventurous and that want a big world to travel across and explore. 2D games are for those players that are straightforward or want quick to play fun. The preference of 3D and 2D games depends on the taste of the player.

Minecraft

Minecraft was created in November 2011 by Markus Persson also known by his alias Notch. Minecraft started as a personal experiment by Persson and then found it to be practical enough to be suitable for professional development Minecraft then became a huge hit after it was further developed and published by the company Mojang the company Persson worked for with millions of people crafting getting the game through Steam and its website. Minecraft has a unique sandbox system where it provides you with infinite resources where you can craft whatever u please it satisfies all of your creative needs it’s called Creative Mode and that is what I find fascinating about the game.

Sim City

The first Sim City was created and developed by Will Wright and was later published by Maxis game company in 1989 It is a game where one has to make a foundation and develop their own city. Sim City was originally not thought to turn out to be an extremely popular game franchise but the unexpected success of the first game prompted Will to make sequels for it, game play didn’t change much but the graphics obviously was better than the first because of improved technology and it had extra features like you can make unexpected events to happen like generate a tornado for instance. Ive played the fourth instalment of the game once and I really did enjoy seeing my city grow it was a great game and it also helped me understand the troubles and hardships our engineers and majors go through when you play the game you do really develop some kind of bond with your city people. I also find it interesting to observe what the people of my city would if I suddenly generated a tornado out of nowhere.
